Galapagos Land Tour

5 Days - 4 Nights

Land tours in the Galapagos Islands offer a unique and immersive way to explore this iconic archipelago. Unlike traditional cruise ship tours, land tours primarily involve staying on one of the inhabited islands and taking day trips to nearby uninhabited islands.
We offer you accommodation in hotels, hostels or guest houses on one of the four inhabited islands: Santa Cruz, San Cristóbal, Isabela or Floreana. These islands offer a variety of accommodation options to suit different budgets.
The heart of a land tour are daily excursions to nearby uninhabited islands and natural attractions. These trips are led by expert guides who will help you discover the unique wildlife and stunning landscapes of the Galapagos.
Land tours provide ample opportunities for wildlife encounters. You will be able to see iconic species such as giant tortoises, blue-footed boobies, marine iguanas, sea lions and a wide range of bird species. Snorkeling and swimming with sea turtles, sharks and colorful fish also stand out.
Land tours offer more flexibility in terms of your schedule and daily activities. You can choose from a variety of tours and customize your itinerary to your interests, whether it’s hiking, snorkeling, or wildlife photography.
Staying on inhabited islands allows you to experience the local culture and interact with the friendly Galapagos residents. You can explore towns, dine at local restaurants, and learn about the island’s history and conservation efforts.
Our land tours in Galapagos prioritize sustainability and responsible tourism. We often support local conservation initiatives and guides provide education about the fragile ecosystem and the importance of preserving it.
Overall, a Galapagos land tour offers a different perspective of this natural wonder, allowing you to explore the islands at your own pace while enjoying the stunning beauty and unique biodiversity for which the archipelago is famous.

Detailed Itinenary

Day 1: Interpretation Center - Tijeretas Hill

Welcome to the beautiful Galápagos Islands! After checking in to your hotel in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, you will first visit the Interpretation Center with your guide, where you will learn everything about the history and future of Galápagos. Afterwards, you will take a short walk to Tijeretas Hill where frigate birds are nesting and from where you have a spectacular view over the island. The rest of the afternoon and evening are at your leisure. For example, you can take a stroll along the waterfront and marvel at the numerous sea lions that make themselves comfortable there, or watch the sunset at Playa Mann.

Day 2: Kicker Rock

You will visit the famous Kicker Rock (León Dormido), a volcanic formation amid the ocean. There you will be able to snorkel with sea lions, colorful fish, rays, turtles and if you are lucky also with hammerhead sharks! Currents in Kicker Rock are strong and usually cold, but the marine wonders are totally worth it. After lunch on the boat, you will go to a beautiful, pristine beach, where you will have time to relax. In the afternoon, you return to Puerto Baquerizo Moreno.

Day 3: Puerto Chino beach – La Lobería

In the moist highlands of San Cristóbal, you will visit the giant tortoise breeding center La Galapaguera to witness the most iconic creature of the archipelago in its various life stages. The tortoises wander in a semi-natural habitat, which lends itself to good photographic opportunities. The aim of the reserve is to help restore populations of the threatened San Cristóbal tortoise back into the wild. Afterwards, make your way to the southeast of San Cristóbal island to reach Puerto Chino Beach, a remote beach with a variety of winged and flippered inhabitants. The fine white sand offers plenty of space to stretch out, while the calm water makes the beach a popular place to go swimming. In the mangroves that lie just behind the sand, you'll see finches. The rocky outcrops to the left and right of the sandy beach are home to many sea lions. In the afternoon, you will visit the beach “La Loberia” where you can encounter a colony of sea lions. Overnight in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno.

Day 4: Española Island

Departure in the morning by boat to Española Island. The boat ride takes approx. 1h30 each way. Upon arrival, you will disembark at Suarez Point where you will begin a hike, looking for Nazca and blue footed boobies. After the hike you will go back on board for lunch and then reach a snorkel spot where those who want can enjoy a snorkel session and look for tropical fish, rays, etc. You will be back to San Cristóbal port in the end of the afternoon. Please note : Albatrosses are not on the island from approx. late December to beginning of April. Still, you have a lot of wildlife to see.

Day 5: San Cristobal Airport – Departure

Enjoy your last morning on San Cristóbal Island and visit for example Playa Mann or Playa Carola, or take a last stroll along the promenade. On time for your flight back to the mainland, we will bring you to San Cristóbal Airport, where your tour ends.
